Our Rotary club is committed to providing the highest level of service to our community, our state, our country and our world. We use 100% of the net proceeds from these raffles to support many local projects, local groups, as well as several projects state wide, some projects in other parts of the country and projects in other parts of the world. As with most Rotary clubs we support projects like Polio Eradication, clean drinking water, other health, humanity, and education projects. We have collected and sent supplies to Hurricane Katrina victims. A few years ago we sent relief money to the victims of the tsunami in Asia. We have teamed up with a few other Rotary clubs and are building a school in Honduras and a Rotoplast project in Central America. Rotoplast is a project where Cleft Lips and palates are surgically repaired. Locally we give support to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Huron High School Outdoor Challenge programs. We buy books for our school libraries and financially help support several reading programs in our elementary schools. Our largest single project every year is to award 10 high school students Scholarships to help them get started in college. Last year 10 students received our scholarships for a total of $8,000.00. Our other major project starts in November when all of our members change hats and become the Goodfellows of Huron Township. Even though we are Goodfellows all year long. We have bought eyeglasses for school students that the family doesn't have insurance for or can't afford them, to buying coats or winter boots, hats, mittens, gloves and even clothing for children. To many other things that come up through out the year. We run a program we call, "No Child Without a Christmas." Last year we gave food, toys and clothing to 175 families with over 360 children. Do you belong to a non-profit group that is looking for a fundraiser? We offer a very unique opportunity for your group to make some extra money. If your group meets the requirements we can offer to them the opportunity to help sell our raffle tickets. We will pay back a donation to your club or group to the amount of $1.50 for each raffle ticket sold. This could amount to a little extra money for a small project that your club or group wants to do, to a major fund-raiser. Last year we had 15 non-profit clubs or groups help sell our tickets and we returned to them over $11,400.00 in donations. This accounted for a few clubs that raised an extra hundred dollars to one of the most active clubs that raised over $3,000.00. This was done without the club buying prizes, paying for printing, applying for a license or having any cash outlay for a fundraiser. If your club or group is interested please contact our raffle chairperson Jerry Burke at gburke@chartermi.net or Huron Township Rotary PO Box 289 New Boston, Mi. 48164. |
