Positioned on a familiar corner in downtown New Boston, the Veteran´s Memorial Monument was redesigned, installed and rededicated to those who have given their time and their lives for our country.
We paused to remember, reflect and respect those who have gone before us, honoring our country with their service, on Saturday, November 10 at noon.
The participants in this rededication came from many walks of life, from several corners in our community, and ranging in ages from the very young to our senior members; but there was one thing in common and that was to celebrate the initial completion of this project.
We realize that our monument will never be completed, and it is with this that we extend an invitation for others to join in purchasing a commemorative brick for the circular walkway that lies before the monument.
It is important for us to remember what was there before and Huron Township Rotary was proud to include the original plaque in this reinstallation.
As you find an opportunity to visit the site, to pause and remember those who have gone before, appreciate the contributions of so many, including SBC, for the property easement, Hennessy Engineering, OHM for survey services, excavating by Pancho Vena, Jim Shears cement work, Osborne Concrete, Hillcrest Sod Farm, Mums the Word, CJ Towing, Valerie´s Enchanted Florist, and labor assistance from 34th District Court.
In addition, Joe Viger, Air force plaque, John Mitchell, Marine plaque, Richard Gorham, Navy plaque, Willie Williams, Coast Guard plaque, Kenneth E. Miller VFW Post 6040, Army plaque, Huron High School staff and students, flag pole, Forest Green Landscaping, Michigan Memorial Park, flag pole, and HT Applefest Committee, flag pole and two benches. Major contributors include Huron Sportsmans Association, Renton Junior High staff and students, Republic Services, Waste Management, Chapp & Bushey, Jerry and Linda Burke and family, Huron Township Rotary, American Legion Post 231, and Apple Charlie.
Our Thanks to all those that have purchased bricks so far.
We also recognize the leadership of Ms. Kelly Dwyer and R.P. Lilly on this project.
From the Rotarians, each considers this a privilege and honor to work on this project for our community. |
