About Us

Rotary International is a world-wide organization that consists of thousands of local Rotary Clubs in which Huron Township Rotary is one.  As with all Rotary clubs our members are dedicated to building a better community and working with other clubs and organizations to accomplish this.  Our members as with all Rotarians world-wide  promote "Service Above Self."

Rotary is an group of business, professional and community leaders as well as ordinary people united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

Rotary meets weekly for fellowship and interesting and informative programs dealing with topics of local and global importance. Membership is by invitation and reflects a wide section of community representation. Rotary has no religious or political affiliation.

Rotary International is a charitable foundation which each year provides millions of dollars for international scholarships, cultural exchanges, and humanitarian projects large and small in all parts of the world that improve the quality of life for millions of people.

In Huron Township we are very active in our community and we accomplish our many projects with funds raised by our Michigan 3 digit raffle fund-raiser.

Through major donations and the sale of commemorative brick-pavers we have funded the rebuilding and maintenance of the Veteran’s Memorial Monument in downtown New Boston.

We are the club that coordinates Goodfellows for Huron Township. This effort services over 150 families a year ensuring that the families have a holiday dinner and that all of the kids have gifts at Christmas.  We call this project, "No Child Without a Christmas."

Our Goodfellows program does more than that.  We like to say we are ”Goodfellows all year round,” responding to special needs as they arise throughout the community.  We will supply school children with Eye Glasses if the parents are not able to, along with winter coats, hats, boots and mittens as needed.

We award 10-12 scholarships to graduates of our local high school annually that amounts to $8000 minimally.

In the past we have chartered a Rotary Interact Club at Huron High School, a Boy Scout troop and help to support another, and chartered a Girl Scout troop.  We also chartered and are the major supporter of the Outdoor Challenge program at Huron High School.  In 2014 we also took on the sole and major sponsorship of the Huron Township Police Explorer's.

We work with our local Police and Fire departments on many local projects.

We make annual contributions to all our local school libraries for new books.  We contribute to reading programs and other projects in our local schools.

If you are interested in becoming a Rotarian or getting involved in one of our many projects, please contact one of the members or send us a note.  We will contact you with more info.
